Offset your carbon emissions

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a gas released through natural processes such as volcanic eruptions and forest fires, as well as through human activities such as deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. As a powerful greenhouse gas, CO2 traps heat in the atmosphere, and due to human activity is a main contributing factor of global warming world-wide. Every time we use electricity, heat our homes, drive our cars, fly on an airplane, or consume goods and services, we produce small amounts of CO2.

While we should all reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible, the reality is that it is almost impossible to live a modern lifestyle without generating CO2 emissions. Collectively, our CO2 emissions contribute to global warming, which is expected to cause significant environmental harm, and social and economic risks and impacts.

Purchasing carbon offsetts is a means to counterbalance your personal CO2 emissions while helping to fight global warming. Offsets are created via the creation of renewable energy projects , improved energy efficiency, and sustainable forestry programs . Reforestation has proved to be particularly effective at sequestering CO2, which plants absorb during photosynthesis.

Patagonia Sur CO2 will plant approximately 375.000 native species trees on its Valle California property in the Palena Province of Chilean Patagonia. Collectively, these trees will sequester a total of 185.000 tons of CO2 approximately.

Individuals, families, and businesses who wish to offsets their CO2 emissions may visit the Patagonia Sur CO2 Forest.
