We have developed a variety of carefully selected activities, including fly fishing, horseback riding, river & sea kayaking, mountain biking, nature walks & hiking, white water rafting & river float trips, sea safaris and bird watching and community & conservation projects.

Each evening, you'll meet with your guide to plan the following day's excursions, which will be tailored to your interests and ability.

The Patagonia Sur Nature Reserve Membership Club's Expedition Team is composed of both highly-trained, bilingual guides who have deep experience leading world-class eco-tours in Patagonia, and locals with insiders' knowledge of the terrain, who will infuse your trip with the essence of Patagonia.

Fly Fishing
The fly fishing throughout Patagonia Sur's network of properties is richly varied, and includes Brown, Rainbow and Brook trout, Coho, Salar and King salmon, among others.

Whether you’re an avid angler, are learning to tie flies and fly cast, or simply want to enjoy a few hours on the water, we’ll provide the ideal experiences. In keeping with Patagonia Sur’s environmental stewardship, all fishing is catch-and-release.

Horseback Riding
“Cabalgatas,” the Chilean word for horseback rides, may be enjoyed by guests of all ages and experience levels. We have designed the best circuits to reach magical, memorable places with unforgettable views. Our Gaucho guides know the area intimately and offer the safest routes to exceptional vistas.

Mountain Biking
For the ultimate in authentic Patagonian mountain biking, we have repurposed old trails which originally served as byways for explorers, and now serve as paths for Gauchos and muleteers.

Nature Walks & Hiking
We have designed a rich network of trails with varying levels of duration and difficulty, from kid-friendly nature circuits to full-day hikes with rewarding destinations, such as rarely seen mountain lakes and 300’ waterfalls. Along the way, our expert guides will highlight flora, fauna and topography of interest.

River & Sea Kayaking
In Melimoyu, paddle among dolphins, kayak to a colony of sea lions or enjoy river kayaking on the Colono River. In Valle California, enjoy exclusive access to our ten-mile stretch of the El Tigre River, or the nearby Palena River, or enjoy a kayak tour after hiking or riding to our secluded mountain lake.

Bird Watching
Grab your binoculars and camera and enjoy up close views of dolphins, sea lions and a large number of water birds, such as Kelp Gulls and Ringed Kingfishers, as you explore Melimoyu Bay.

Valle California offers extensive birding opportunities and guests will likely spot Austral Thrushes, Patagonia Sierra Finches, Giant Hummingbirds, Austral Negritos and Magellanic Woodpeckers.

Rafting & River Float Trips
Float trips allow you to enjoy the region’s beauty in a relaxed yet adventurous way. Whether you fish while you float or simply take in the spectacular scenery, this is a great and memorable way to experience Patagonia.

There are a variety of rafting options available. For scenic and easy to moderate float trips, we recommend the Class I and Class II Palena or Espolón Rivers. For more intrepid rafters, the Class V Futaleufú River offers adventure and breathtaking scenery.
